A Child of the East End by Jean Fullerton Based on the story of the author's life during the post war years. Life in Cockney London was tough and the Government's broken promises had led to chronic housing shortages, rampant crime and families living in squalor. Jean paints a picture of this fascinating part of London during the 1950s and '60s.
The Second Sleep by Robert Harris This is the intriguing story of young priest riding his horse across a silent moor, knowing he must reach his destination before night falls and a curfew is imposed. What he cannot know is that, in the days and weeks to come, everything he believes will be tested to destruction as he uncovers a secret that is as dangerous as it is terrifying.
